About ASPH
The Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH) is the only national organization representing the deans, faculty and students of the accredited member schools of public health (SPH) and other programs seeking accreditation as schools of public health.
ASPH Graduate Training Programs
ASPH Graduate Training Programs contribute to the efforts of Federal Agencies to build an effective public health workforce. Our Training Programs are designed to support the career development of promising public health researchers and practitioners, while simultaneously addressing the workforce crisis that federal public health agencies are facing. As such, they are of utmost importance to our schools and ASPH.
Training Opportunities
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
- The ASPH/CDC Allan Rosenfield Global Health Fellowship expands the global health prevention workforce and provides fellows with the opportunity to gain practical, first-hand experience working, under the guidance of some of the world’s top public health leaders, on global health issues, fellows apply and translate knowledge to real world public health situations.
- The ASPH/CDC/ATSDR Internship provides an opportunity to gain exposure to state-of-the-art public health information while furthering the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom.
- The ASPH/CDC/PRC Minority Fellowship enhances the preparation of future public health professionals from ethnic and racial minorities. Fellows conduct research at one of the CDC-funded Prevention Research Centers (PRCs) throughout the country while furthering their dissertation work.
Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)
- Participants in the ASPH/HRSA Fellowship and Internship benefit from applied training within federal public health agency located just 10 miles from our Nation’s Capital. Trainees are placed within various HRSA bureaus including the Bureau of Health Professions (BHPr), the HIV/AIDS Bureau(HAB), and the Maternal & Child Health Bureau(MCHB).
ASPH Public Policy Fellowship
- The ASPH Public Health Policy Fellowship is a unique opportunity for Fellows to participate in the national health policy-making process. Fellows are placed in either a congressional or committee office on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, where they observe and participate in the legislative process as it pertains to public health. Fellows learn about broad, crosscutting public health policy and contribute to legislative efforts.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)
- The ASPH/NHTSA Fellowship Program places Fellows with the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to address injury prevention and traffic safety issues. Training offered through this program expands the injury prevention workforce and provides Fellows an opportunity to gain practical, first-hand experience working at a Federal Agency.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
- The ASPH/EPA Environmental Health Fellowship enables environmental health professionals to work with EPA on current and emerging environmental public health needs. The program capitalizes on an important interdependence between the academic public health community and the EPA, the country’s primary developer of environmental policy. Fellows are placed at various locations in EPA’s labs and offices, including Philadelphia, PA, Research Triangle Park, NC, Cincinnati, OH, Ann Arbor, MI, and Washington, DC.
