Established in January 2000 by the Arizona Board of Regents, The University of Arizona Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health is currently the only nationally accredited college of public health in the eight state western mountain region.
The UA Zuckerman College of Public Health has distinguished itself by its outstanding community-based research and practice projects and by its focus on eliminating health disparities, especially within the populations of the Southwest.
The UA Zuckerman College of Public Health provides both undergraduate and graduate education in population-based health disciplines to prepare students for professional and academic public health careers.
- The Master of Public Health (MPH) program offers six areas of concentration: Biostatistics, Environmental and Occupational Health, Epidemiology, Family and Child Health, Health Education and Behavioral Sciences, and Public Health Policy and Management.
- The Epidemiology graduate program offers study leading to master (MS) and doctorate degrees (PhD, MD-PhD) in epidemiology. Multi-disciplinary collaborations among program faculty and university departments and state and national health institutions provide classroom and community training opportunities.
- The Health Education Program offers the Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences degree with the option of a major in school health education or a major in community health education.
A DrPH degree is under development which will train future leaders in public health practice who can translate scientific knowledge into community-based programs and can provide leadership in public health policy and management. A PhD in Biostatistics also is under development which will prepare students who have demonstrated excellence in mathematics and the sciences to become research biostatisticians in academia, industry, or govenment.
