| The mission of public health is to ensure the conditions in which people can be healthy. Education at Drexel University's School of Public Health provides the conceptual foundation to identify these conditions and the competencies necessary for promoting and protecting public health through a commitment to social justice. We focus on preparing graduates who can have a concrete effect on the health of the public by utilizing an interdisciplinary problem-based learning curriculum that combines knowledge of the disciplines in public health with an emphasis on practical application. Through the promotion of a strong service-learning ethos and working closely with community groups, agencies, and populations in need the School is preparing professionals who can effectively address current and future public health challenges through the use of integrated approaches. Thus, the School is seeking to instill in students the ability to see public health problems as interrelated and mutually solvable, rather than problems having solutions that are in opposition. |
