The ASPH/HRSA Fellowship Program is supported through the DEMONSTRATION IN TRAINING GRANT TO SUPPORT PUBLIC HEALTH FELLOWSHIPS AND INTERNSHIPS between the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH) and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The primary purpose of the ASPH/HRSA Training Grant is to "plan, develop, and implement activities to support a program of innovative training and education opportunities that demonstrate the sharing of expertise between public health faculty, fellows/interns, and health professionals at the Federal, state and local government levels."
The ASPH/HRSA Fellowship Program was created in 1998 to provide an opportunity for early career public health professionals from accredited graduate schools of public health to further their professional development through direct training and service within the various Bureaus, Offices, and Field Offices of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The positions are for one year, with the possiblity of second year depending on the needs of HRSA and the fellow. The projects are expected to provide in-depth training and opportunities for achievement at all levels of policy development and program implementation. For the first year of the program, fellows will be based at HRSA Headquarters located in Rockville, MD (approximately 10 miles outside of Washington, DC).
